An American soldier is trapped on the hellish battlefield of World War I in Europe while his family in the US is misinformed about his “death”.
WWI is the first modern warfare in human history, during which almost all the deadly weapons were invented. Men, confronted with machines for the first time, realized that war is not about a mystical glory or patriotism, but a practical hell. It is always important to recount the gloomiest times in history and remember them. As George Santayana said, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
