Lolo (2023)

Written and Directed by Owen Campbell

Director of Photography: Ingrid Sanchez

Art Director: Rye Mandel

Lolo follows a young girl and her mother through the path of loss, regret, conflict, and a sinister series of encounter with supernatural entities. It is about a meeting of loneliness and vulnerability, with a depraved hunger that preys on people’s needs and weaknesses. On a more intellectual level, it is an illustration of how capitalism and the media/image economy in particular encourage an extractive and exploitative relation to youth and beauty. The script has no dialogue except for a few brief moments of song.
